Farm Credit East recently awarded $33,000 in scholarships to support 22 Northeast educators’ attendance at Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) institutes this summer. CASE institutes provide educators with training and resources to teach CASE curriculum courses to high school students.

Reminder: Spring Crop Sales Closing

The deadline to insure spring crops in the northeast for the 2022 crop year is March 15, 2022. Insurable spring crops include field and vegetable crops such as corn, soybeans, barley, oats, fresh market sweet corn, cabbage, processing beans, processing sweet corn, dry beans, green peas, fresh market beans, tomatoes, tobacco and potatoes.

Reminder: Perennial Crop Sales Closing

The deadline to insure Northeast perennial crops for the 2022 crop year is November 20, 2021. Insurable perennial crops include apples, peaches, grapes, cranberries, blueberries, pears and cherries. Coverage availability varies by county, so please view the crop fact sheets available at CropGrowers.com.

Protect Against Lack of Rainfall with Pasture, Rangeland and Forage (PRF) Rainfall Index Policy

Forage losses from natural hazards, especially drought, can be a significant risk for forage and livestock producers. That is why Crop Growers, LLP, is pleased to provide Pasture, Rangeland and Forage (PRF) insurance. PRF can be an effective tool for producers who have experienced losses caused by reduced forage and grazing due to lack of rainfall. The sales closing and acreage reporting date is December 1, 2021.
